Dr Hermann Offenhaus (University of Twente)
"Phase sensitive coherent Raman microscopy and spectral analysis"
Biography:
Dr Herman Offerhaus obtained his PhD from the university of Twente (Netherlands) on phase conjugation for high power solid-state lasers. He worked as a postdoc in Southampton with Dave Richardson on high power fiber lasers and nonlinear applications of the pulses from these lasers. He then moved to the AMOLF institute in Amsterdam to work on high harmonic generation before returning to Twente to become a lecturer. He is now a senior lecturer in the Optical Sciences group where he does research on (applications of) nonlinear microscopy, coherent combination of diode arrays, low-level signal detection and a touch of plasmonics. He is the chair of the section Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics of the Dutch physical society and chairs a COST network on coherent Raman Microscopy. He also keeps bees.
