Dr Luiz Zagonel
"Advances in optical mapping by cathodoluminescence in a STEM and its applications on GaN quantum discs in nanowires"
Biography:
Luiz Fernando Zagonel graduated in Physics in 2000 and finished his PhD in 2006 at the Campinas University, in Brazil. During a work as Post-Doc in the Université Paris Sud, at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides, in the team of Mathieu Kociak, he worked intensively in the development of new Cathodoluminescence detectors for Scanning Transmission Electron microscope. He has been working in this field since 2008, mainly focussing in applications such as gallium nitride quantum disks within aluminium nitride barriers. This work demonstrated the high local character of excitation of light by fast electrons in such nanostructures. Recently, he moved to Brazil to take a faculty position in the Campinas University.
