Biography:
Dr Kröger is a Reader in the Department of Physics at the University of York working on nanoscale and biological materials using advanced electron microscopy based characterisation techniques. He obtained his PhD from the University of Hamburg in Germany in 1997, has stayed for three years as postdoctoral researcher at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (funded by the Minerva Foundation) and was subsequently appointed Research Fellow by the University of Bremen in Germany until 2007. From 2007-2008 he received a stipend from the Max-Kade Foundation to stay as Visiting Professor at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. In 2008 he was appointed by the University of York specialising in nano-materials and biogenic and bio-inspired composite materials.
